MightyMeals Partners with The Lamb Center to Support the Homeless Community in Fairfax
At MightyMeals, we believe in giving back to the community, which is why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with The Lamb Center in Fairfax, VA. Starting this month, we’ll be donating meals once a month to help nourish The Lamb Center’s guests–single adults experiencing homelessness who rely on the center as a critical resource in their lives.
The Lamb Center is a daytime drop-in resource center dedicated to providing essential support to those experiencing homelessness in Fairfax. Open six days a week, the center offers a safe and welcoming space where people can access not only nutritious food, but also services like job placement, case management, a clothing closet, and even an art room. The Lamb Center’s guests, many of whom live on the streets, in cars, or in the woods nearby, find comfort and dignity in these services. “For most of our guests, we’re likely their main, if not only, source of nutrition,” said Wendy Baird, The Lamb Center’s Director of Development. Wendy emphasized the importance of providing nutritious meals and expressed gratitude for MightyMeals’ contributions, which will help ensure that everyone who comes through their doors receives quality food.
Branden, a MightyMeals representative, visited The Lamb Center on November 1 for our first meal drop-off, where he met with Wendy to discuss the impact of this new partnership. Wendy explained how MightyMeals’ chef-prepared, individually packaged meals are particularly valuable because they can be frozen and easily stored. This provides flexibility for the center, allowing them to have nutritious meals on hand when food service runs short.
In addition to meal donations, Wendy highlighted other ways that the community can support The Lamb Center. For those who’d like to get involved, she suggests visiting their website to find a list of items they regularly need, like paper products, coffee, laundry detergent, and sturdy, warm clothing. With winter approaching, donations of lightly used coats, boots, and other cold-weather gear are especially helpful.
As we look forward to working with The Lamb Center in the coming months, we invite you to learn more about this incredible organization and how they’re making a difference in our community.
