MightyMeals Sponsors the 11th Annual Food for Others Tysons 5K & Fun Run!
This past Saturday, September 28th, MightyMeals had the honor of supporting the 11th Annual Food for Others Tysons 5K & Fun Run, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds to fight food insecurity in Northern Virginia. As a proud partner, we donated 500 meals—including scrambled eggs, southwest scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and red skin potato hash—helping fuel participants and volunteers. One of our own MightyMeals employees even hit the pavement and ran in the race, making the day extra special for our team!
We spoke with Hannah Brockway, Development & Communications Coordinator at Food for Others, who shared more about the organization and its mission. “Food for Others has been serving the Northern Virginia community since 1995. Our mission is to distribute food to our neighbors in need by mobilizing our giving community and volunteers,” she explained. Through their hybrid model as both a food bank and pantry, they support over 3,000 families and 3,900 students every week, addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity faced by 75,000 individuals in Fairfax County alone.
The 5K & Fun Run, which has grown tremendously over the years, continues to play a crucial role in funding Food for Others’ efforts. Hannah noted that this year’s race was their biggest yet, with more sponsors, participants, and supporters than ever before. As the event wrapped up Hunger Action Month, it not only raised funds but also brought much-needed awareness to food insecurity in our community. “All proceeds directly benefit Food for Others and help us continue to provide essential programs and services,” she added.
For us at MightyMeals, being able to support such an impactful event is incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful to contribute to their mission. If you couldn’t make it to the race, there are still plenty of ways to support Food for Others—from donations to volunteer opportunities.
